Take your steps into the Singapore’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Singapore Botanic Gardens Heritage Festival returns with spectacular fun activities for families and friends to celebrate the rich heritage of the Gardens from 30 June to 9 July 2017.
Visitors can enjoy a list of menus, programmes and promotions by the Gardens’ cafes, restaurants and retail outlets. Here are the fun-filled activities at the Singapore Botanic Gardens (SBG) Heritage Festival:
1. Food For Thought’s Heritage Site
Date from 30 June to end July | Price: $18 (include GST)
Food For Thought has come up with a modern twist to classic local favourites-Nasi Lemak Risotto and Iced Rose Bandung Ice Cream Ripple. The Nasi Lemak Risotto is a combination of a crispy chilli chicken cutlet and a rich, creamy coconut risotto, served with a poached egg, ikan bilis, peanuts, and sambal. Food For Thought hopes that this dish will serve as a glimpse of Singapore’s melting pot of culture, and a reminder that even completely different elements can work together and bring joy to many.
2. Food For Thought’s Old School Mini Carnival
Date: 8 and 9 July | Time: 11 am – 2 pm | Price: Free
Travel back in time with Food For Thought at its Old School Mini Carnival, where kids get to enjoy a slice of Singapore as it used to be. Try out traditional games like Gali and Chapteh, and have a taste of local snacks such as kachang puteh, ice balls and gula melaka cotton candy!
3. Heritage Tour
Participants will get a chance to walk through the Tanglin Core of the Gardens will evoke memories of bygone days where ladies strolled through the Gardens with their parasols and long skirts. Highlights of the tour include the Bandstand, sculptures in the Gardens, the Heritage Trees, the Main Gate and the Saraca Stream Walk.
Usually held on the 4th Saturday of every month, the Heritage Tour is specially conducted for the two weekends of the festival.

4. Commentary on Ginger Garden
The one-hectare Ginger Garden showcases more than 550 plant species, varieties, and horticultural cultivars of the ginger order (Zingiberales). Visitors will be able to see a wide array of gingers, many with beautiful leaves and attractive flowers.

5. Heritage Set: Halia’s Singapore-style Chilli Crab Spaghettini and Chilled Lemongrass & Ginger Infusion Drink
Date: 30 June – 9 July | Price: $30++ per set
A signature dish of the restaurant for about 12 years now, Halia’s Singapore-style Chilli Crab Spaghettini has won accolades from visitors in Singapore and around the world. It comprises al dente pasta that is deliciously swathed in a spicy, sweet and tangy sauce reminiscent of the iconic Singapore chilli crab dish.
6. Halia’s Chilli Crab Sauce Cooking Demonstration
Halia will be conducting a cooking demonstration of Halia’s Chilli Crab Sauce. The Chilli Crab Sauce is available for purchase from Provisions Store, as well as during the cooking demonstration.

7. Free National Orchid Garden Tour for the locals
In conjunction with the Singapore Botanic Gardens Heritage, locals can get to enjoy free entry into National Orchid Garden from 1 July to 9 July 2017.
8. Tea Sensations at the Gardens Shop
The Gardens Shop offers a wide selection of nature-inspired gifts and souvenirs, from floral jewellery and exotic teas to botanical print notebooks and bookmarks.
Visitors will receive a complimentary Tea Sampler pack with any purchase from Gardens Shop at the National Orchid Garden on 1,2,8 and 9 July 2017.
9. Singapore’s iconic delights at Casa Verde
Date: 30 June – 9 July
Casa Verde is showcasing some of Singapore’s iconic favourites, on top of its existing local menu. Diners will be able to enjoy a Heritage Festival exclusive set comprising Prawn Noodle Soup or Seafood Char Kway Teow, Iced Jelly with Aloe Vera, and a choice of soft drink or regular coffee.
10. Corner House Open House
Date: 1, 2, 8, 9 July | Time: 4pm – 4.30pm | Price: Free, on-site registration required.
Corner House will be opening its doors to visitors of the Gardens for them to take a closer look at the former residence of E.J.H. Corner, the Assistant Director of Singapore Botanic Gardens from 1929 to 1945.
11. Special Di Wei Set Menu at Food Canopy
Date: 30 June – 9 July | Price: $8.80 per set for 1 pax
Take a walk down memory lane with Di Wei’s traditional Teochew dishes. Di Wei’s Heritage Festival Special Set Menu comprises a few of its signature dishes – Cai Po Kway Teow, Prawn Balls, and Teochew Yam Paste with Gingko Nuts!
12. Kids’ Pizza-making Workshops at The Garage
Date: 1 and 2 July | Time: 4 pm – 5.30 pm | Price: $30 per pax
Specially conducted for kids aged 4 to 12, these workshops have limited slots. Adult supervision is recommended!
