& Juliet Review

Striving to make Singapore the Broadway of Asia, live entertainment company Base Entertainment Asia has always had their finger on the pulse of what audiences want to watch, and has successfully secured and presented many Asia Premieres of renowned international productions here. Chief Executive Officer of Base Entertainment Asia Chantal Prudhomme said that Singaporeans should not miss the opportunity to watch the musical when it is here, before it gets even bigger.

& JULIET is produced by Michael Cassel Group in association with MTM/Leyline and is presented in Singapore by Base Entertainment Asia under the direction of Chantal Prudhomme. The show is produced on Broadway and internationally by Max Martin, Tim Headington, Theresa Steele Page, Jenny Petersson, Martin Dodd.

Our verdict:

We really enjoyed the musical which captivated us from the beginning to the end! The musical is packed with catchy pop songs so if you’re a fan of contemporary pop hits, it is likely to appeal to you as well.

The empowering storyline of the musical and character development of the main characters offers a fresh and feminist perspective on the classic story. It also incorporates elements of humour so it adds a playful twist to the Shakespearean narrative.

Keep in mind that the appeal of “& Juliet” largely depends on your musical taste and your openness to a contemporary reinterpretation of a classic story. If you enjoy musicals and are intrigued by the idea of a pop-infused, feminist take on Shakespeare, it could be a fantastic choice for a night out at the theatre.
