Chinese New Year Celebrations with 500 residents at the Chinatown Harmony Night

About 30 clan associations, religious groups and corporate partners came together this evening to celebrate Chinese New Year with 500 residents at the Harmony Night (牛车水新春和谐之夜).

The event is part of the Chinatown Chinese New Year Celebrations 2017 and aims to strengthen community bonds and ethnic ties during the festive period. It also celebrates the different cultures, religions and dialect groups in Singapore.

Into its second year; it is organised by the Kreta Ayer – Kim Seng Citizens’ Consultative Committee (KA-KS CCC) and is on a much larger scale this year, welcoming more groups as they put up cultural performances ranging from Cantonese opera to guzheng ensemble.

Besides performances by groups including Singapore Kwangtung Hui Kuan, Sri Lankaramaya Temple, Sri Mariamman Temple; and Fairfield Methodist Church, residents also tucked into a sumptuous dinner and Lo Hei for a memorable start to the Chinese New Year.
