Andong Zzimdak is a popular franchise from Korea established since 2006. The name, Andong Jjimdak, literally stands for ‘Steamed Chicken of Andong’. It is a variety of jjim (a Korean steamed or boiled dish), which originated from the city of Andong, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, and made with chicken, various vegetables marinated in a ganjang (Korean soy sauce) based sauce.

Andong Zzimdak food is great for sharing with group of friends. The portion always came in a huge size. Here are the 4 varieties of Andong Zzimdak dishes in small and large size:
– The original ($40.90, $50.90)
– Boneless Jjimdak ($45.90, $55.90)
– Seafood Jjimdak ($48.90, $60.90)
– Mayak Jjimdak ($42.90, $52.90)

Let me introduce the new dishes from Andong Zzimdak. Start off with Byol Byol Cheese Jjimdak $52.90 only available in one size. What’s so special about this dish? I’s the cheese!! The cheese was really an interesting ingredient to added in it. This Korean authentic dish is made of sweet and juicy tender chicken, potatoes and carrots along with the savoury and addictive gravy, to complete this dish, the melted cheese was added on top of the dish. It surprised me that the cheese goes very well with the gravy. They compliment perfectly well together, and none of them was overpowering!

Next, Mayak Jjimdak $47.90 for 2-3 pax, $59.90 for 3-4 pax. This was my favourite dish among all! Alert to spicy lovers, this dish is really spicy, the spiciness will increase when you have it hot. “Mayak” actually means narcotics in Korean. The dish came with chicken, potatoes and carrots. The spicy gravy was really addictive, the more i eat, the more shiok i am.

Followed by, the Korean Cheese Pancake, something new that you rarely see in other korean restaurant. The cheese added into the korean pancake turn out to be good, i was doubting about this dish at the start but once i tasted it, everything change. The cheese wasn’t that overpowering and it goes well with crispy, moist and soft pancake. This dish must eat when it still hot, if the dish turn cold, the taste and the texture will slightly change and you might not like it anymore.

The Cheese Steamed Egg. Don’t judge by the look of it. Trust me, it was really an interesting and yummy steamed egg. The cheese provide the extra punch to this ordinary steamed egg.

Next, the Spicy Cheese Doboki. It full of melted cheese in it. The rice cake texture was soft and chewy, the cheese and the rice cake work quite well together, the only things i don’t like this dish was, isn’t spicy enough.

Lastly, Seafood Kimchi Soup! Go for this soup dish if you are seafood lovers and also kimchi lovers too. Try to having this dish while it still hot. What if the soup turn cold? The soup taste will change, it will turn salty and you might just stop drinking it.

My Verdict:
I enjoyed my cheesy experience at Andong Zzimdak Restaurant. I was really surprised by them, they really put in lots of effort to come out with all the interesting new dishes, and also how the cheese work perfectly well with all the others ingredients. If you are a cheese lover, you definitely need to check it out soon.
