Spotted outside Plaza Singapura, I came across the #GrabDurian Roadshow where various types of durians were being dehusked for tasting plates.
Having loved durian since I was a kid, it piqued my interest so I approached the #GrabDurian Van.
The friendly staff were very informative as they elaborated the differences between each type of durian to the interested passersby. They also explained that you can use the Grab app to purchase the voucher to redeem onsite.
These durians are harvested and delivered fresh daily to ensure that you are consuming the freshest King of the King of Fruits.

I had seen the caravan around Singapore at other roadshows and food stalls so I was curious to find out where they came from and how they are customised for the event. I found out that the super cute caravan are provided by Scoopy’s & Cream who provide vintage car and Kombi VW Van Rentals in Singapore. The company has more than 12 different types of kombis, in a variety of colours and models for all sorts of events. From multiple purposes of coffee stands, food trucks, to photo booths, to ice cream and of course, durian.
The events caravan provided to #GrabDurian is a converted retro “Airstream” model. This highly mobile pop-up store can be customised to your brand and to serve the purpose of that particular event, and you’d be amazed at the space it can provide inside. There was an air cooler inside to ensure the durians and the staff are kept cool and fresh, and allowing the staff to freely move around to prepare the durian for the customers. The design of the caravan allows for the convenience of having a pop-up store than has a flip up roof and yet provide a fashionable experience for the staff and customers. They even have a retractable patio area and internal power sockets! The staff definitely seemed like they were having fun while working inside the van. When we asked for photos, they even prepared their own branded signs!
