Perbacco, the Italian restaurant located at 20 Craig Road is preparing to battle out all the eatery place at Craig Road. ‘PerBacco‘ refers to Bacchus, the Roman god of wine.

The restaurant has two sections, the bar and the dining room. The long spacious bar overlooks the charming street and the tables next to the opened windows offer an al fresco feel. The brick-lined walls and dark wood furnishings provide the perfect ambience to chill.

Behind the bar is a sprawling yet cozy dining room appointed with dark wood chairs, stone floors and artfully stacked wine crates that imbue a warm, quirky feel. Perfect place to bring your date for an romantic dinner. The menu is all in Italian with English sub in it.

Appetizer – Crocchette al Granchio – Crab Meat Crocchette with Spicy Tuna Sauce

Well fried Crocchette, it was crispy one the outside and extreme soft on the inside. The spicy tuna sauce was the perfect match for the crab meat crocchette. It brings the crocchette taste to the next level.

Frittelle Soffici e Involtini al Prosciutto e Scamorza – Smoked Scamorza Cheese Wrapped with Italian ham and soft Fritters. It’s a lovely combination of smoked scamorza cheese wrapped in Italian ham. The taste was unforgettable. The soft and fluffy fritters were slightly bland.

Strudel di Verdure e Fonduta di Formaggio – Grilled Vegetables & Mozzarella Strudel with Cheese Fondue

I didn’t expect it to be so good, as I don’t really eat brinjal (Eggplant). But this was surprising good. The brinjal was well grilled in mozzarella strudel to complete this dish; cheese fondue was added in it to enhance the overall taste.

Pasta:  Linguine alla Carbonara di Astice – Linguine with Lobster and Egg Yolk Cream Sauce

I am highly recommending this pasta to everyone. The egg yolk cream sauce was the BOMB!! It was the soul of this dish. It was really creamy but not overwhelming. The lobster that goes along with the al-dente pasta was Boston lobster, no wonder it tasted so good.

Gnocchi di Patata con Coda di Manzo Brasata e Tartufo
Potato Gnocchi with Braised Oxtail and Truffle Essence

This was my first time trying Potato Gnocchi. The Potato Gnocchi texture is similar to our local food “Muah Chee”. Well braised Oxtail that goes really well to the dish but i find that the truffle essence was overwhelmed.

Main Course
Dentice al Forno con Sugo di Pomodorini e Burrata – Oven Baked Red Snapper Fillet, Cherry Tomato Sauce and Fresh Burrata

Rarely see the burrata cheese goes perfectly well with the cheery tomato sauce and the red snapper fillet. The red snapper fillet was perfectly oven baked, which lead to the sweet and slippery meat, and its savoury crispy skin.

Guanciale di Vitello Brasato al Vino Rosso –
Braised Veal Cheek in red wine with Cannellini Beans

The most flavorful dish among all! – The braised veal cheek was well marinated in red wine. The meat was very tender and robust. The cannellini beans were added in to give the dish a slightly nutty flavor.

Dessert: Cheesecake alla Ricotta e Pesche Sciroppate – Ricotta Cheese Tart with Peach Compote

It’s always good to end off your meal with a good dessert. The cheese lover will definitely love it. The cheesecake was light and sweet. The biscuit base to give the cheesecake a little bit of crunchiness. The sweet peach compote gives a juicy bite in every spoonful of cheesecake.

Pannacotta alle Nocciole Caramellate – Caramelized Hazelnuts Pannacotta

A signature of Chef Marco’s – This dessert gave me the feel that i am having Ferrero Rocher with plain pudding.
