Tioman island is the perfect destination for a weekend getaway for family, couples and friends. It is located off the east coast of Malaysia, in the state of Pahang. Regardless of whether you are travelling from Singapore or Kuala Lumpur, you will have to take a ferry ride from Mersing Jetty or Terminal Feri Tanjung Gemok to get there. The travel distance from Singapore to Mersing Jetty is approximately about 2.5 hours and you can either travel by a private car, taxi or coach service. Although there are multiple modes of transport, my recommendation would be to go by private car or taxi.
Over the weekends, my friend and I had an amazing time exploring the attractions available on Tioman island. It was my first visit in Tioman and the natural scenery left me with a deep impression; especially the exact moments when I caught sight of fishes and sea turtles swimming through the sparkling, turquoise sea water.

We arrived at the 4 star Berjaya Tioman Resort and was greeted by their friendly staff upon our check-in. The resort is located at the west coast of Tioman Island which is surrounded by misty mountains and nested on golden sandy beaches. It is the perfect destination for you to have a memorable seaside escape.

Each room provides a different view, choose to have a sea, forest or garden view. I am delighted to stay in the [Garden View Chalet] which provides a comfortable twin bed, a balcony and complimentary WIFI service. Furthermore, the staff at Berjaya Tioman Resort will ensure you are well taken care of at all times.
Resort Facilities and services are Excellent
There are many facilities and services for guests to enjoy within the resort throughout the day. So what happen if guests forget to bring cash or run out of cash? Don’t worry, the resort accepts most of the various credit card payments. Here are some of the resort facilities and services:

Berjaya Tioman Resort is well-designed for guests who love indoor and outdoor activities. Likewise, it is also an ideal team-bonding place for family and friends. Guests are welcome to participate in the golf challenge or chill by the sunken pool bar with their favourite drinks and snacks. Guests who prefer outdoor activities can participate in sea sports such as island hopping, snorkelling, kayaking, sea diving and more. Yes! All booking can be done within the resort too!
Picnic Experience on the Golden Sand Beach
Looking forward to a date with your loved ones on the golden sandy beach? Guests can either bring their own picnic set or purchase a picnic experience package from the Berjaya Tioman Resort.
I brought my Tesalate towel along for my Picnic session. It was my first time using it and I am absolutely in love with it. The Tesalate towel is compact, lightweight, fast-drying, sand-free and instagrammable. The towel comes in a beautiful double-sided fabric design which is totally perfect for travellers and a great gift for your loved ones. Recommended! Thumbs up!
Brilliant Sunset view at Berjaya Resort Tioman
Leave your footprints along the Berjaya Tioman Resort beaches. It is one of the prettiest spots to watch sunsets. You can enjoy a glass of wine while admiring the brilliant sunset with your loved ones.
What to look out for?
You need to look out for… Sandflies! Beware of those aggressive sandflies around the beach area! Do make sure that your insect repellent is with you.
Indulge with the authentic cuisines within the Resort
You won’t miss out any authentic food if you are staying at Berjaya Tioman Resort! Because they have chefs from around the world to satisfy your cravings. There are 3-dining areas nestled in Berjaya Hotels & Resorts; Sri Nelayan Coffee-House, Matahari Restaurant and Xuan Restaurant. If you are looking forward to having an international cuisine, I would recommend you to visit the Sri Nelayan Coffee-House. Alternatively, there is Xuan Restaurant for Chinese cuisine and Matahari Restaurant for Thai cuisine.
Among these 3 restaurants, I like Matahari Restaurant because it serves the most traditional Thai cuisine! Pineapple fried rice and Tom Yum Soup are their signature dishes, which is also their top-seller dishes.
Do you know that it is difficult to find seafood in Tioman Island?
An insightful take away from my 3D2N trip in Tioman! I initially thought that most of the resort islands will have fresh and delicious seafood meal. However, it is difficult to find fresh seafood or seafood restaurants in Tioman island. The reason is that people who stay in Tioman are forbidden from killing sea creatures. Most of the seafood found in Tioman is directly imported from nearby countries. Therefore, seafood in Tioman is slightly more expensive.
My verdict:
It was my first visit to Tioman Island and I had a fruitful 3D2N stay at Berjaya Tioman Resort. I am thankful for the warmth welcome and great hospitality showed to me. Berjaya Tioman Resort is the perfect destination for family, couples and friends. The best part of the journey was my first snorkelling experience! I loved the moment when I swim in the sea, admiring the underwater scenery with schools of fishes and colourful corals. Berjaya Tioman Resort has the best spots for sea-sport activities such as snorkelling, kayaking or even diving in my opinion. Travelling from Singapore to Tioman is very convenient, all you need to do is to wake up super early and kick off your journey!
